Area Map

Glover Garden

Glover Garden is a park built centered around a group of western-style residences which were built between the end of the Edo Period to the beginning of the Meiji Period, then dismantled and reconstructed at the present place. The Glover Residence, Ringer House, and Alt House are designated National Important Properties, and the Glover Residence has been designated as a World Heritage, too. The group of historic residences provides a valuable material that shows us the process the feudal Japan transitioned to the modern period. The manicured garden offers you beautiful flowers season by season, and the scenery from the top of the hill is breathtakingly beautiful. Visiting the garden after twilight in summer is also recommended -- the houses are floodlighted only during the summer season, and give you a romantic scenery.
