The owner, a former fisherman, buys the freshest local fish in season! A fisherman's bar in Hakodate that serves exuberant and delicious beach cuisine.

Nidaime Shoueimaru is loved by locals and tourists alike in Hakodate, Matsukaze-cho. The owner, Mr. Maeda, a fisherman-turned-chef, goes to the nearby Osatsube and Kinaoshi fishing ports and buys seasonal fish and seafood in the morning with a keen eye. He carries fresh fish by truck and prepares various sashimi, grilled dishes, deep-fried dishes, and other exceptional beach cuisine. The sashimi, made with the best seafood caught in the sea of Minami-Kayabe, where the ocean currents meet and skillful knife work, has surprisingly good taste and texture. You must try "atka mackerel sashimi" and "live squid sashimi," which are specialties in the local area. More than 50 varieties of crisp, dry Japanese sake that match fish dishes are always available, and there is also a wide selection of sake accompaniments.
